Here's our full and exciting schedule:
We have the 8:30-1 day and 2-6 day, with a 1 -2 pm option available to stay late or arrive early.
Each student will have a sketchbook of their own. We are strong believers in experimentation and process! Let the fun begin! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Week of June 27th - July 1st
Monday through Friday
Classic Summer Fun 8:30-1 Printmaking, painting, building, and creating colorful tie dye tshirts. FOUR SPACES OPEN
Classic AWA studio 2-6 Lots of drawing, painting and mixed media explorations and tie dye.
Week of July 5th - July 8th Tuesday through Friday (no Monday this week )
Art and Artists 8:30-1 Learn about artists throughout history while painting, building and working with clay. Tie dye!
Classic AWA studio 2-6 Afternoons will be filled with sculpey creations, tie dye, painting on canvas and mixed media work.
Week of July 11th - July 15th
Monday through Friday
Miniature week! 8:30-1 Create tiny sculpey sculptures, build dioramas, make a terrarium and all things tiny.
Classic AWA studio 2-6 Canvas painting, building with cardboard and wood and fun with our junk jewelry bin.
Week of July 18th -July 22nd
Monday through Friday
Printmaking and Painting 8:30-1 Lots of printmaking this week including cyanotypes and gel prints. Some embroidery/ mixed media work as well as painting.
AWA studio 2-6 Sewing, weaving on cardboard, painting and drawing and of course our amazing mixed media bin explorations.
Week of July 25th - July 29th
Monday through Friday
Nature and Art! 8:30-1 A week of looking at artists who work with and in nature, draw from nature, learn how to dry flowers, gather sticks and forage to create sculptures, create pigments with natural elements. Lots of sketchbooking, collage drawing, printing and painting
Art Studio 2-6 A week of looking at artists, drawing from nature and creating your own projects. Lots of sketchbooking, collage drawing, printing and painting
Week of August 1st- August 5th
Monday through Friday
Classic Summer Fun 8:30-1 This is a class AWA week! Keep a sketchbook, collage, make prints, paint, build, and creating colorful tie dye t-shirts. Expect the unexpected!
Comics class with local artist Clay 2-6 Do you love to create your own characters and stories? We are excited to have local comics artist and painter Clay Mears in the studio all week teaching drawing and story development. Explore comics throughout history looking at graphic novels by Lynda Barry and Art Spiegelman as well as classic comics such as Spiderman and Batman. Expect to leave class with a comic of your own!
Week of August 8th- August 13th

Three spaces open
Drawing Beyond Boundaries 2-6 We're thinking of this as an intergenerational class. All ages welcome.
Explore all sorts of drawing techniques, working large and small while keeping a sketchbook. Students will work in a variety of materials (inks, pencil, charcoal) working both small and large scale, keeping sketchbooks and learning drawing techniques with an emphasis on creativity and joy. For inspiration we’ll examine a wide variety of artists throughout history such as Henri Matisse, Käthe Kollwitz and Jasper Johns. This class will be taught by working NYC-based artist Nancy Nicholson.
Week of Aug 15th- Aug 20th

Weaving on looms and fiber arts with Mihoko … This week there is no afternoon option. Our looms will be filling the studio! Please join on for some fiber fun! THREE SPACES OPEN
Mihoko is back in our Brookline Village studio this summer for a full week of fiber arts! Weave on large floor sized looms, learn wet felting, needle felting, spinning and dyeing!
Week of Aug 22nd - Aug 26th
Monday through Friday
Creative Studio 8:30-1 Keep a sketchbook, look at artists throughout history, learn the art of cyanotypes ( sun prints), painting and drawing.
AWA studio 2-6 Keep a sketchbook, canvas painting, sculpey creations, tie dye, create sculptures from our vast mixed media treasures!
