We start our summer programming the week of June 26th and run right through the end of August. We have teen art, fiber arts with weaving on looms and lots more! Check out our full schedule HERE
Week of July 3rd
8:30-1 Nature and Art ( Tuesday-Friday ) this is a four day week.
This week students will experiment with natural elements to tie dye and paint with. Lots of painting, printing, cyanotype, embroidery and drawing. Always studio explorations!
1-2 Drawing class Join for the week or by the day.
2-6 Open Studio Explorations
Join us for afternoons of painting, drawing and building. Explore our Brookline Village famous mixed media bins!

It’s a full week of all things tiny! Projects will include creating dioramas, tiny sculptures, paintings and more!

We are pleased to announce Mihoko Wakabayashi will return to the in the Art with Amy studio with her floor sized looms! Enjoy a full week of weaving, spinning, felting and sewing (by hand and machine!). Each summer we've seen our students make lasting memories AND scarves, vests, dresses, and stuffed animals.
Saori weaving and Art with Amy share a "there are no mistakes!" philosophy and truly all leave happy .

Art With Amy! An old-school neighborhood creative space for children of all ages!
Art With Amy is an old-school neighborhood creative space for children of all ages. We believe in the power and beauty of the hand made. Children learn painting, construction, jewelry making and weaving. We do projects here! The most wonderful thing we have to offer is a guided journey that encourages true personal exploration, with pit stops in art history along the way. We intentionally keep our space WiFi free in the hopes that we can all grab moments of distraction-free time in an era in which all of us- even children - are being bombarded with information.
Our studio has children of all ages working together, sometimes collaborating, and sometimes working side by side. Art with Amy is my personal labor of love. It's a safe space where every day I see truly magical work being made. There's all sorts of evidence and articles out there supporting these old-fashioned ways of creating, that help children grow into problem solvers and critical thinkers who are more confident. It's also super fun!
Looking forward to welcoming you to our world of art!

Michelle Mendez, practicing artist, AP Art certified instructor and retired high school art teacher offers a supportive studio approach. She'll be there to guide and coach you working on your skills, taking risks in your art-making or simply to have a relaxing week exploring new media and techniques.

Dropping Masks in Studio (Covid) and ...my solo art exhibit in Gloucester! (also some summer info)
Hi all,
With Covid numbers down I will be dropping the mask mandate in the studio next week. I am hoping things improve even more and that this isn't just a lull. I'll continue to watch the numbers and read updates and if need be will reinstitute. I'll still keep my mask on since I am in contact with so many each week and I am older than most that are making art here .
I'm almost finished planning the complete summer schedule. I should have everything all set for the month of August next week. I am taking sign ons if you'd like August weeks. We have teen art, weaving on looms, all sorts of painting and drawing and tie dye! To see the schedule look here:

I hope you'll be able to stop in and see my solo exhibit at Jane Deering Gallery in Gloucester! If you've never been to Gloucester, it's a beautiful, quaint seaside town with shops, galleries and cafes all about an hour from Brookline. I'll be in the gallery this Friday morning 10-12 and Saturday and Sunday 1-5. I am happy to give you a private tour of my drawings and paintings!

Jane’s gallery is a true light filled gem: an ideal venue to be showing my new framed works on paper and wood pieces. I’ll also have my larger and smaller portfolios of works on paper available.
Gloucester is a beautiful New England ocean town about an hour from Boston by car or an easy commute from Boston’s purple line. The feel here is special- lots of small shops, galleries, Cape Ann museum ( right next door to the gallery )and cafes.

Art auction to benefit survivors of earthquake in Turkey and Syria
Hello all!
I have a tiny 6"x 9" ink and pencil painting on paper entitled "Float" in an online auction to benefit the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria. Bidding begins February 20th and runs through Feb 25th. All art in this auction is priced to sell. The bidding for my painting begins at $75.
Float is part of my morning sketchbook work I have been doing at my desk at home. Looking forward to showing more of these pieces at the Jane Deerlng Gallery in Gloucester this spring.

February vacation art class update
Art with Amy has three spaces open in our Friday class during February break. Alex Vaillancourt will be teaching 8:30-1:30. We are mixed ages and this time around grades 3-6. I'm organizing a teen/preteen class for Thursday 2-5. Lots of painting, drawing, building and studio explorations all week long! We are right in Brookline Village in the corner storefront on Harvard/Linden with cool art in the window and no sign .

Art Class News
We have three spaces in the Wednesday class. Pick up available at both Pierce and FRR on this day. This class is best for an art loving child in grades 3-5.
Planning Feb break. We have 8:30-1:30 Tuesday-Friday with Alex and will likely add the afternoons. Reach out to sign on.
I have the skeleton Summer art schedule ready for sign ons. More weeks to come. Those last weeks in August fill fast so good to sign on early. We try to keep all weeks mixed age and have limited spots for each age group.
