Summer Highlight! Comics class!

Hello all!

We are excited to have local artist Clay Mears back in the studio 2-6 for the week of August 1st! ** sample of their comics shown above**

2-6 M-F Comics class with local artist Clay

Do you love to draw characters and create stories? This week is for you. Students will learn and build on drawing skills while creating a comic of their own.

That week I will be in the studio 8:30-1 with classic summer fun! Tie dye, keep sketchbooks, make paintings and more. Option to stay until 2 :).

Weaving on looms and fiber arts returns to the studio!

The week of August 15th 9-2 daily! Mihoko is back in our Brookline Village studio for a full week of fiber arts! Weave on large floor sized looms, learn wet felting, needle felting, spinning and dyeing! **The Saori method of weaving- like the AWA method of art is one of no mistakes. When I say everyone leaves with amazing art I am very serious.

Highlighting our SUMMER week of July 25th!

Join us for a week of Nature and Art this summer! Super happy to have local artist Casey Cataldo in the studio 8:30-1 for a week of nature and art. Students will draw from nature, learn how to dry flowers, gather sticks and forage to create sculptures, create pigments with natural elements. In addition we will be learning about artists who work with and in nature. Expect lots of sketchbooking, collage, drawing, printing and painting. Alex is in the studio 8:30-1 Tuesday-Friday offering an open studio/maker space with access to all our wonderful supplies and space PLUS daily special projects including: sculpey creations ( colorful clay), tie dye, canvas painting and creating your own terrarium! Art and Artists 8:30-1 Learn about artists throughout history while painting, building and working with clay. Tie dye!

Classic AWA studio 2-6

Afternoons will be filled with sculpey creations, tie dye, painting on canvas and mixed media work.

Create tiny sculpey sculptures, build dioramas, make a terrarium and all things tiny.

August 15th 9-2 Weaving on looms and fiber arts with Mihoko. This week there is no afternoon option. Our looms will be filling the studio! Please join on for some fiber fun!

Middle school drawing! Grades 5-8
Work with a variety of materials and learn drawing techniques with visiting artist Clay!
Meeting Tuesday-Friday during February vacation/ Hours: 2-5  Tuition: $325 

Drawing Tuesday evening for adults and middle schoolers
Four class set / one space remaining
Starting Feb 15th. No class during February vacation. Meeting Tuesday evenings 6:30-8:00 Tuition: $180

AWA after school art
We have space in our Thursday afternoon class. We meet directly after school until 6.
A good fit for this grouping would be third to fifth graders. 
Expect lots of exploration with painting, drawing and building projects. Pick up available at Pierce available.

February vacation classes

February vacation art class news!
Alex Vaillancourt will be in the studio Tuesday-Friday 8:30-1:30 with all sorts of painting, building and drawing projects. Ages 6-8 for this one. 

Clay will be teaching Drawing for Middle SchoolersTuesday-Friday 2-5. Learn techniques and explore materials.

ALSO in the studio!
Drawing class Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:00
Clay will be back for more drawing techniques classes. This is a four week class. Learn full-body proportions, action poses, face/features with a focus on expression and value/rendering. Adults and middle schoolers and up welcome. We just ran a class with just this mix and it was wonderful with a couple of parent/child in the mix.

Good morning! Art with Amy is on Zoom this week M-F 3-5. Much like our art studio in Brookline Village our Zooms are creative hang outs with art making, watching interesting art related videos including interviews with artists, discussions of the unexpected and general fun. Grown Ups Night Out! Friday evening!

This Friday evening and next Alex Vaillancourt will be in the studio for Grown Ups Night Out! Have you wanted to dig into our mixed media bins, play with oodles of yarn, old jewelry and boxes?! Make Art not War

I've been working on putting together a series of workshops. Yes, I am still working on it but thought I'd let you in at this stage of planning. One- if you want to see something different offered please let me know Two- if you want to join on to what I am planning please let me know.

Here's what we have so far. We start as soon as we have four students ready to go!

Tuesday evenings 6:15-7:45: Eyes, feet, hands and heads!
Learn drawing techniques. Adults and children 11 and up welcome. We have a parent/child set signed on so far. Taught by Clay

Wednesday evenings 6:15-7:45:  Resin/ candlemaking workshop. This will be a four class set. Taught by Oli

Experimenting with one Thursday evening in December having a Makerspace for adults. Explore and create! With Alex Vaillancourt.

Make gel print cards!  Date to be determined 6:15-7:45. Learn how to make gel prints and create a set of cards. Taught by Martha Friedman.

Drawing at Off Main Gallery in Wellfleet/ Art classes this week!

It's an Official invite!  I have my "Counting The Days" series of drawings in a three person exhibit at Off Main Gallery in Wellfleet! Super happy to be showing with Kay Gordon and Susie Nielsen. The opening reception is next Saturday July 24th 6-8. Hope to see you!


If you are on the Cape this weekend please stop in at AMP and check out my series of scrolls "Earth Beat" up through this Wednesday.

Meanwhile, back in the studio this week the plan is M-W
1-6. Our time will be filled wth tie dye (a box of new t-shirts arrived!), painting, and drawing. Someone just said to me the studio feels like a real art school for kids-yeah!
